PLINTH LEVEL STRUCTURE

Plinth is the line which differentiates the Substructure and Superstructure. It is the part of the Superstructure between the top of the tie beam at the finished ground level (the top level of the soil surrounding the structure that has been prepared and levelled before construction) and the floor level of the building (the ground floor level inside the building).
The Plinth height is provided essentially to protect the superstructure from dampness, which may seep in due to direct contact from the ground. The top plinth level is provided with the damp proof course, which gives additional protection against dampness.

Plinth is made up of various sub-stages like:

  • Casting of plinth beams
  • Plinth filling
  • Damp Proof Course
  • Grade Slab

Plinth level structure can be started at any time of the year as long as the below measures are followed:

  • Maximum size of boulders to be used for plinth filling should be 300mm
  • A proper damp proof course should be provided or else water will start seeping on the ground floor area through capillary action

Time required to complete the Plinth:

  • Approx. 19 days for a 750 sq. ft. home and approx. 24 days for a 1000 sq. ft. home
  • Plinth filling will require maximum 5 to 6 days if IS standards are strictly followed
  • Storage of different materials like boulders & murum material which will be used for plinth filling along with cement, sand, aggregates and reinforcement in limited available space
  • Preparing small quantities of concrete

  • InstaMix is a ready-to-use concrete available in 35 kg bags
  • •  The contractor has to just shake the bag, open it and pour the concrete at the desired location
  • Use of InstaMix will eliminate procurement and storage of different raw materials
  • InstaMix bags can be ordered even for small concrete volumes

Zero M Water Shield

  • It is an integral waterproofing compound mixed with cement at the time of concreting
  • It helps in waterproofing of R.C.C. elements which will be buried inside the ground and subjected to moisture at all times

Zero M Acrylic Power

  • It is a pure waterproofing liquid mixed in different ratios of cement for different applications
  • It is applied using brush application on the top surface of plinth beams as a damp proof course

Zero M Cover Blocks

  • Cover blocks are made of concrete whose strength is more than the strength of structural members like columns, beams & slabs
  • As the blocks are made of concrete, they ensure better bonding with poured concrete

Concreto Green / Duraguard Microfiber / Duraguard RapidX

Different types of cement can be used in all structural applications of the building.

For example:
You can use Duraguard RapidX, if you want to increase the speed of construction since this is a fast setting cement.

OR

You can use Duraguard Microfiber, if you want to minimise shrinkage cracks on the surface of the concrete.

OR

You can use Concreto Green, if you have water shortage as it consumes 25% less water and gives 70% more strength.

Note: You can mix Zero M Water Shield with any of the above cement products in given proportions, if you want your R.C.C. elements to have water repellent properties.

OR

If you are not interested in doing the above exercise, you can directly use Duraguard Waterseal Cement which already consists of integral waterproofing compound.
